Why

LX200 owners often confront the problem of field rotation since they use their telescope in the altazimuth mode most of the time. Stars at the edge of the field appear to rotate about the field center during CCD imaging or long exposures of greater than 5 minutes. As a result these peripheral stars away from center appear as small concentric arcs on the film rather than as star point images.Field rotation with an LX200 can be corrected in two ways: either by adding an equatorial wedge or a #1220 Field De-Rotater. The addition of a Field De-Rotater enables precise polar alignment and negates field rotation. With the #1220 De-Rotater attached to your telescope's rear cell other accessories such as a T-Adapter or Off-Axis Guider can in turn be threaded into the #1220 unit. The #1220 De-Rotator is extremely easy to use. Simply align your LX200 using the 2-star technique for example and signals are automatically fed to the Field De-Rotater through the RS-232 port on your scope's control
